Kwik Fit, operator of the UK’s longest established mobile tyre fitting service, is extending its network in response to an increase in demand from both fleet and retail customers. The company has signed an agreement with Mercedes-Benz Vans to add over 100 Sprinter vans to its mobile fitting fleet over the coming year.
Kwik Fit has invested heavily in its mobile fitting service over recent months. This investment has not only resulted in additional vehicles but has also seen an expansion in the support team and infrastructure. The company has also developed new systems designed to ensure a seamless process in ordering, scheduling and supply, delivering increased capacity and shorter lead times.
The first vehicles have entered operations this week, and are being located across the UK, both to provide greater capacity in areas of high demand, and to extend geographical coverage. While the first Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans going into operation will grow the size of the network, not all will be additional. Some will be replacing vans from Kwik Fit’s current mix of Renault and Fiat vehicles as those are retired from the fleet.
The new vans are being delivered through Mercedes-Benz Vans dealer Motus and are being fitted out by Kwik Fit’s long term supplier, On Board Power Ltd. Key to Kwik Fit’s decision was the proven reliability of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and the network support, including nighttime servicing. This will lead to fewer daytime hours lost to maintenance and therefore ensure greater capacity for Kwik Fit to meet its customers’ demands.
Mark Wellings, mobile divisional director at Kwik Fit, said: “We are constantly working to provide the premium professional mobile tyre fitting service and the recent growth in demand is testament to our success in doing that. Traditionally mobile fitting has been geared towards fleet drivers, but we are seeing increasing numbers of retail customers opting for the convenience and flexibility of a service which comes to them.
“Our fleet expansion is designed to meet the needs of all types of customers, enabling them to select a date and location to suit their own requirements. On the day of the fitting a convenient two hour window will be locked in and shared by SMS before 8am allowing customers to plan their day accordingly.”
Sarah Palfreyman, Van Sales Director at Mercedes-Benz Vans, said: “It’s been a pleasure to support Kwik Fit in the growth of its mobile tyre fitting fleet with these 100 new state-of-the-art vehicles.
“Kwik Fit’s premium service mirrors values at the core of our own support package, assisting customers seven days a week to ensure drivers spend as little time as possible waiting to get back on the road.
“For that reason, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter felt like the perfect choice for the team – and we’re delighted that the vehicles are now being rolled out across the nation for Kwik Fit’s valuable customer base.”
Mobile bookings can be made via the Kwik Fit website, with 7 day appointments available in many locations.
